Martin Behaim
Martin Behaim (1459–1507) was a German cartographer, navigator, and astronomer best known for creating the Erdapfel, the oldest surviving globe of the Earth. While his globe became obsolete soon after its creation due to Columbus’s discoveries, it remains a historically significant artifact, housed today in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg.
